Is there a place to submit self-composed music to possibly become published?

Aaron asked:

I fell in love with the piano and can’t stop messing around with it. I play entirely by ear; I can’t sight read to save my life. I came up with a few pretty nice tunes (basically riffs), and I think they sound much like the riffs used in most popular music pretty closely. Even rock, dance, and some pop music uses similar underlying tunes to it.
Anyways, while I’m still working on my pieces, I would like to know of a place where I can submit (via online, by mail, or in person) the riffs of my songs, the lyrics, and the whole bit.
I’m just worried about people stealing my ideas and making them theirs for money.
Please, I’m looking for a legit, honest, big or small (don’t care) business to submit my music to. I don’t care if it’s turned in to a hella small business or not. Just anyone that’s willing to take in my music, and even work on it if they want to. Even if YOU’RE willing to take in my ideas and work on them, as long as the credits go to me.
Thanks for your answers!
By the way, my compositions aren’t necessarily made to be only played on the piano. They’re just the main, base, underlying tune of a full, real song. Sure, the riffs sound nice on the piano, but even better with vocals and more accompaniments (i.e. percussion, strings, guitars).
