Is it very difficult to get into a college’s music school?

davematthewsrocks27 asked:

I want to be a music teacher, and for that I need to get into a music program at a college. Obviously, there are better colleges for music that are going to be nearly impossible to get into, but as a general rule, what is the process like? I know there are auditions involved, but are these the only things college’s music programs look at when accepting you? Do you have to be the next Miles Davis on trumpet (which is what I play) to get in, or just proficient enough to sight-read and play without difficulty?
I also play drums (I am better at drums than trumpet or anything else), and I am trying to learn guitar and piano for theory. Will these help?

How to stay motivated to practice piano?

YayForMe asked:

Well, when I started learning to play piano and read music and whatnot, I tried to do it for an hour a day. That worked for about a week, and I actually saw some progress.

However, that one hour turned to 40 minutes a day, to 20 minutes, to taking one day off, to multiple days off, in just one month. :P

Does anybody have any ideas on how to stay motivated and keep practicing an hour a day or more like planned? Yes, I know self-discipline is one of them. :P

“A Sight to See”

I am quit a sight to see,
I dwell in the city of lights
And reach up to the bright moonlight,

I watch young lovers fall in love
As they steal a kiss under the shadow of my being,

I watch as the bikers ride by wearing their fashionable hats,
I wonder how one would look on me?

I listen to the music,
Of the grand Carousel,
As it spins round and round,
While the horses jump gracefully up and down,
As if ballerina’s on Carousel,
Filling the air with children’s laughter,

I see over my brilliant city,
And stand tall and proud,
Almost as if I am the King of this place,

People from far and wide visit me,
Flashing their cameras and posing next to me,
As if I am the biggest star to see.

When the sun rises out of the Earth,
It splashes me with a warm, orange, hello
As it rises to its place in the sky,
To start a new day,
Mmmm is that baker’s bread I smell!

People continue to come day after day,
Photographers, tourists, that old lady on the park bench,
They all smile a bright hello,
As they admire my structure,
From far below,

Oh what a site I must be!

“The Enchantment of the Night”

Have you ever walked in the midst of the dark?
Do you know the secrets of this different world?

I will tell you, all I have seen,

I dance upon the cobble stone streets,
Fore filling my heart’s only plea,

The aroma of flowers hangs heavy in the air,
As if casting a spell upon the night

The bright summer stars
Dance about
Almost as if they are angels of the night sky,

I look up to admire them
As a nightingale sings sweetly to its lover,

The bright, glowing moon illuminates the earth below,

Green ivory reaches up to what now is gone,
Decorating my palace elegantly and whole,

The lake sparkles like the stars up above,

The fields rise and fall,
As the wind gently flows over its long, mangled mane,

The tree branches sway,
As they rock softly to and fro,

Lightning bugs light my way,
As if they are lanterns, on a warm, yet misty day

The spirits of the woods awake,
As they fly gently with the summer’s breeze

They Sweetly whisper to me,

Telling me to sleep, and only dream of such a place,

Yes, welcome to the Enchantment of the night.

3.
“The City of Love”

I walk beneath the shimmering city lights,
The cold cobble stone streets wet from the rain,

Umbrella swung over my back,
Wondering if its myth is true for me

I walk in the dark, purple light,
The moon illuminating the path lain before me,

The smell of rich coffee hangs deeply in the air,
As street lights flick on to keep me there,

The strong structure, that keeps watch over its beautiful city,
Seems to give me a graceful hello

I sit down, the sound of paddles moving through the water not far from me,
I look up to its knowing being,
Is finding love really true? Even for me?
The stars appear brightly in once darkened sky,

Twinkling high, telling no lies,

The night sounds set the rhythmical beat,

As the moon rises high,
Leaving the once grey clouds,

I hear the music of the Carousel,
As the delicately carved horses dance round and round to its enchanting tune,
As if they are professional ballet dancers on the moon,

I stand up and know it’s quit obvious to me,
This is where I’m meant to be

I sway back and forth,
Dancing, seemingly alone,
Yet I know my company well

Know I know the myth is true,
The city of love is real indeed.

And it will always be here, for you and for me.

Thank you! I have a really horrid accent when I talk, and many believe I am from a different country when I am not so…
Also, my age is 14.
Thanks!
